Bangkok International Film Festival Corruption
I’m sure that many of you have heard about the new corruption investigation that the US is running based on 1.7 million dollars in bribes to some key figures at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The investigation claims that two high profile Hollywood industry people bribed a couple high ranking people at the TAT in order to secure rights to manage Asia’s largest film festival, the Bangkok International Film Festival. Those contracts or worth 10 million dollars.
I’m not really sure what to think about this but I will say that there is a lot of corruption in Thailand and this doesn’t really surprise me but what does surprise me is that Hollywood was involved with it. Involved to the extent of 10 million dollars. That is a huge amount of money.
The two people in the center of this corruption in Los Angeles are a married couple. From reading their bios it would seem that they do this type of work all the time. They manage film festivals. They both are claiming that they did nothing wrong but the evidence shows otherwise. Guess we will have to wait for the trial to come but someone is going to jail!
