Food By Phone Bangkok

Posted by admin on Nov 12 2008 | Thai Food

OK, I’ve posted this before a couple years ago but I wanted to bring it up again. For all you expats out there as well as you tourist that are bit tired of Thai food. If you are living in the Suhkumvit area then let me tell you about Food By Phone. These guys run a delivery service to just about all the restaurants on Sukhumvit Road. There are a few other places surrounding Sukhumvit Road. If you live beyond that then I can’t help you. But for those who do live within that area, do check out FoodByPhone.com.

Some of my favorite restaurants are Charlie Browns (Mexican Food) and The Bull’s Head. There are tons of other places that offer just about every other cuisine. They even have some Thai food places if that’s what you’re looking for. They deliver right to your door and it’s hot.  Below is a deliver map.

You can click on the map to make it bigger to see the full delivery area.

Bangkok Bomb Blasts

Posted by admin on Nov 12 2008 | Thai News

Early this morning someone on a motorbike through a make-shift bomb into the Klong Toey market sending dozens of people to the hospital. From what I can see no one has died but it’s still bullshit nonetheless. I’m sure that people will blame it on the PAD supporters but from what I can see on Skynews and the Bangkok Post is that it was over a newly controlled lease of the place. Seems the new owners want the tenants of the Klong Toey market to leave so that they can do something else with the property.

I really don’t know what’s going on in the brains of some of the inhabitants of this planet that would make them want to kill other people over something like this. I dare not call it trivial due to simple fact that we’re talking about people’s livelihood but resorting to killing innocent people is just down right bizarre. Call me a tree hugger if you will but come on people, don’t make me quote Rodney King…

Funny Thai Commercial

Posted by admin on Nov 11 2008 | Thai Commercials

OK, I’ve always been a fan of funny Thai commercials but I think this one is by far the best. It’s my first post about Thai commercials and it won’t be the last. As I find funny Thai commercials I’ll be sure to post them under Thai Commercials. This one is a Visa commercial starring Pierce Brosnan. It shows the true nature of the Thai tuk-tuk and how fast they speed.

Hope you liked it!

The Chao Phraya River

Posted by admin on Nov 11 2008 | Travel Thailand

Yes, I’m still in Phuket. Photos are coming soon. Just wanted to post this video of the Chao Phraya river. I have some really good videos of the river but they are not online yet. Will get those done soon. The video that is below was taken a few years ago with one of my crappy video camera, hence the crappy quality. Even crappier after Youtube encoded it for the web.

Anyway it shows a Thai tub boat pulling a huge load of cargo down the Chao Phraya river. I love the way this river flows from the north to the south of Thailand. It begins in Nakhon Sawan in the Nakhon Sawan province and goes through Bangkok and ends at the Gulf of Thailand.

Enjoy the video and comment if you like.

Patong Beach, 2007

Posted by admin on Nov 09 2008 | Travel Thailand

Even though I like to hit Trang and all the beaches around there like Sukorn Islands, Koh Hai and others, I still like to go to Patong. This was one of my beach trips to Patong. When I’m in Patong I stay at The Beach Resort right on the beach. Their back patio opens right up to the ocean and it’s absolutely beautiful. The sunsets there are pretty amazing. So, here is a video from 2007 that my friend took. I’m in the shot right at the beginning. If you have never been to Patong, be sure to check it out. Enjoy!!!

Off to Phuket

Posted by admin on Nov 07 2008 | Travel Thailand

Since I’m not a big fan of Twitter, I’ll be posting a bit more information here and hopefully on a daily basis. I’m off to Phuket for the next week. I’ll be down there for a friends wedding. No, he’s not marrying a Thai girl. He has an English girlfriend but they love Phuket and are flying in to have their wedding there. Can’t say where because I know some of you like free Singha! Not sure if they will even have any. hehe

Phuket is pretty nice. I usually try to avoid Phuket during peak high season due to all the tourists. I like to take the train down to Trang. While the train won’t stop in Phuket, it does stop in Surat Thani and you have to take a bus to Phuket from there or you can just fly.

Now, I do love Phuket and Patong is one one of my favorit places to stay in. Just not during high season. I love to relax and have fun just not with so many people.

Pictures to come soon…

Arriving in Koh Hai, Trang

Posted by admin on Nov 06 2008 | Travel Thailand

This is one of my videos of when I was in Trang. Trang is south of Phuket and is not so much a tourist destination as Phuket is. The beaches and water are some of the most amazing beaches in Thailand. I love taking the train from Bangkok to Trang. It’s an overnight  train and if you decide to go, do take a first class sleeper. If you go alone, be sure to book two so that you have the sleeper to yourself. It’s truly amazing.

Obama becomes President

Posted by admin on Nov 05 2008 | Thai Life

America was heading down a dark road and has been for the last 8 years. That’s a lifetime to most people and a long time if you ask me. Bush has done more damage to our country in 8 years and I for one am glad for the change. America has always been a shining light for those who seek a path of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Bush took that away. He also caused the death of over 3000 American soldiers in an unjust war. That’s not counting the lives he has snuffed out because of the war. Innocent women and children are dead because of him. But that is done now. It’s over. Bush can no longer cause more pain. It was time for change and change is what America got.

I wish Obama God speed in his new job. America is damaged but she is not defeated. It will take a lot of work to undo what Bush and company has done. America has stumbled but she is on her feet and she will again be that shining light that so many people look for in a dark moonless world. She will shine brighter than before. There hasn’t been this much confidence in a president since John F. Kennedy. JFK was a great leader and while his life and term was cut short, his words, in my humble opinion have been passed on to President Elect Obama.

TTL-Post

Race should know no color, no creed, no religion. While Obama is a African American, he is a man. He is a leader. I watched his speech last night from Chicago. I haven’t heard a man talk like that since Kennedy. He reminds me a lot of JFK. He WILL do good things and America needs it.

To all the nay sayers and all the racists people out there. Your words are not harmful. I am from the south, Texas to be exact and I grew up with a society that hated anyone that wasn’t white. I attribute this to a lack of education. Because the simple fact is that if you hate black people or any other race besides your own then that shows a lack of education. You are ignorant and just plain stupid. You have no right to be in a country that was founded on the right to liberty and happiness. I won’t go further on that.

Again, I wish President Obama God speed in his quest to change America. Change that America needs. America threw her hands up and demanded change. America has spoken. It is time for change and change is what is coming.
