Bangkok Bomb Blasts

Posted by admin on Nov 12 2008 | Thai News

Early this morning someone on a motorbike through a make-shift bomb into the Klong Toey market sending dozens of people to the hospital. From what I can see no one has died but it’s still bullshit nonetheless. I’m sure that people will blame it on the PAD supporters but from what I can see on Skynews and the Bangkok Post is that it was over a newly controlled lease of the place. Seems the new owners want the tenants of the Klong Toey market to leave so that they can do something else with the property.

I really don’t know what’s going on in the brains of some of the inhabitants of this planet that would make them want to kill other people over something like this. I dare not call it trivial due to simple fact that we’re talking about people’s livelihood but resorting to killing innocent people is just down right bizarre. Call me a tree hugger if you will but come on people, don’t make me quote Rodney King…

Thailand to Block Websites

Posted by admin on Oct 28 2008 | Thai News

Let’s see, I can surf porn in Thailand and that’s OK. I can surf terrorist websites and that is ok too. But for some reason the Thai government is going to spend about 500 million baht on blocking sites that talk bad about the Royal Family. Somehow this doesn’t even seem right. Forget the fact that talking bad about the Royal Family is bad for a minute and obviously doing said talking breaks lese majeste laws but come on. We are living in the information age people. I can’t believe they are spending that much money on trying to block websites that talk bad about the Royal Family. I do believe that 14 million dollars should be spent on fixing a lot of the things that are wrong in Thailand.

LIT-Post

I for one would never talk about the family in a bad way. I think the King has done a lot of good for the country but come on! These sites being blocked will just pop up somewhere else in just a matter of time. Do they think they will get them all? That is absurd.

Why is it that the government of Thailand can’t seem to do the right things? Why do the consistently try things that we know will fail? Why are they not putting that money to better use? Talk about pork barrel ear marks!!!

Just my opinion…

Live in Thailand

Posted by admin on Oct 27 2008 | Thai News

I get a lot of questions about how one can live in Thailand and be able to see all the sites and do it all on a tight budget. If you are looking to live in Thailand then I might suggest checking out a guide that I wrote about how to start an Internet business and make extra money doing it. From starting a social community, blog site or dating site or to just starting a website to promote other peoples products (Affiliates).

So, if you are wanting to live in Thailand, be sure to check out my Live in Thailand page.

Leader of PAD Arrested

Posted by admin on Oct 03 2008 | Thai News

This is kind of interesting. The Thai police on Friday arrested Chaiwat Sinsuwong, one of the nine leaders of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD). What’s really funny is that the criminal charges include insurrection, which carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment. If you don’t know what “Insurrection” means, here you go. It means “Mutiny”. So, buck the system and you die! LOL

I supported the PAD in the beginning but they seem to now want to destroy what little democracy Thailand has left now. It’s time for these guys to move aside and let the new PM try to do his job.

Just my thought for today…

New Thai Prime Minister

Posted by admin on Sep 17 2008 | Thai News

Thailand’s 26th Prime Minister was elected by parliament on Wednesday morning with 298 votes from the PPP and the coalition.

If you don’t know who Somchai is, he’s the brother-in-law to ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. I think that is freaking funny as shit. The Thai politics just get funnier and funnier.

Shortly after the vote, the leaders of the PAD, Chamlong Srimuang and Somsak Kosaisuk held a news conference and said that the group does not accept Mr Somchai because he is still a part of Mr. Thaksin. I do have to agree but why do these lackys get put into the spotlight? Why are they even becoming PM’s when they are clearly tied to a man that is under arrest for corruption. Doesn’t make any sense. Maybe it does and I just don’t want to hear it. Let’s hope that the PAD can meet with Somchai and they can find a common ground. The Thai people sure need it right now.

State of Emergency Lifted

Posted by admin on Sep 15 2008 | Thai News

The State of Emergency in Bangkok has been lifted and it’s business as usual. Well, I hope it is. Being here I never saw anything out of the ordinary. Not to say that the political unrest didn’t happen. It did. Just not as big as some other countries government made it out to be. Anyway, it’s all good for now.

I do hope that Thailand can now pick a PM that will have an overall “Comfy” effect as the Thai people do need that stability in their lives right now. Tourism can not take a long term hit. This short time hit had the TAT scrambling to get money back into the Thai economy.

I have faith that it will all be just fine. It’s the Thai way. Thailand can’t afford not to be the Land of Smiles…

It’s Offical, Samak Stays on as PM

Posted by admin on Sep 03 2008 | Thai News

Well I guess that’s what we all get for listening to the rumor mill. Rumor had it that Samak would resign today but it didn’t happen. I’m actually quite glad. If he was to step down from pressure from the PAD then it would mean that he caved under pressure. Now how is that democracy? It’s not. For those that do not like Samak, including me, we have to realize that he was elected with the majority of the Thai vote. Yep, that is democracy and whether we like him or not, he’s in charge of the ship and like he said today, he will see it to the end of the voyage.

LIT-Post

I’ve always loved democracy and at times called my American democracy “Democrazy”. Because it is. I do think now that because Samak is under pressure and the whole world is watching him then I think he has no choice but to do good by the Thais. How can he screw up like Thaksin if everyone is watching? Well, let’s all hope that the protests die down and that normalcy returns to Bangkok. That’s if you call Bangkok normal. Living here in Bangkok, it’s safe to say, there’s nothing normal…

Samak to Resign on Thursday… Maybe.

Posted by admin on Sep 03 2008 | Thai News

Rumor has it that Samak will resign on Thursday. His Foreign Minister has already resigned. I’ve long been a supporter of the PAD and believe that Samak was nothing more than Thaksin reincarnated. It’s quite obvious that the Thai people have felt the same way.

My question is that when the PM steps down, what will come of the Thailand PM position? Who will take on that very important role? Remember, Samak won by a majority of the vote in Thailand so that leaves me a bit confused.

I suppose, yet again, that time will tell…

State of Emergency Announced in Bangkok

Posted by admin on Sep 01 2008 | Thai News

a State of Emergency has been announced in Bangkok. The PM Samak has issued it and although it’s a SOE, there are certain rules that don’t apply. People are still allowed to leave their houses and go to work. You just can’t assemble into groups of 5 or more.

My advice to expats and tourists that are here long term is to stay clear of demonstrations for you might get more than you bargained for.

There has been a death in BKK as a result of the riots and there have been two bombs that have went off. I’m not sure how bad this is going to get for Thailand can’t afford this type of drama. They rely too much on tourism to let this happen.

There is a deep gap in the Thai people right now and time will only tell how it will end. I hope it ends peacefully and that everyone gets what they want out of the government.

Thailand Politics getting Heavy…

Posted by admin on Aug 30 2008 | Thai News

Oh the tangled web that has been woven. Well, considering that I just got back from a small trip from the north only to find that the next route on my trip to Phuket has been cancelled. Can you imagine why? Yep, seems that there are huge protests going on in Bangkok and Phuket and they closed the Phuket airport. All this for the sake of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej who in my humble opinion should step down. He seems to be causing more bad than good but again, it’s just my opinion.

LIT-Post

What will come of these politics in Thailand? I know that I will won’t leave and that this is my home. Thailand will survive this political instability and believe me, people will still continue to come here.

Thailand wants democracy… Thailand needs democracy and Thailand will have it!
