Post Getting a Work Permit

In order to get a work permit, you have to get a a Non-Immigrant visa. Once you get that your employer can get your work permit for you. You also don’t need to have an employer for you can use a company like SunBeltAsia to do it for you. Cost a bit more but they can do it.

The application fee has gone up from 100 baht to 600 baht so do know that you will have to pay that before you can get the work permit.

You have to carry the work permit with you or keep it in your office during working hours to show at any time. There is a penalty if you don’t have it. It’s like 1000 baht.

You also can’t do any other work that isn’t on the work permit. If you do then there is another fine and also possible jail time. They don’t mess around.

If you quit, then you need to turn in the work permit within 7 days to the work permit office of you face more fines and possible jail time.
